(Building castles takes time)

Féach ar Holywood-Gaeilge

Coming from Lurgan, Co.Ard Mhacha, I was delighted to get into correspondence with two member of the McGilly family, Claire from Texas and Joyce from New South Wales. I now discover that the name of my grandmother's grandfather, Loughlan McGilly, was also known by his Irish name Leachlain, clearly indicating that he was an Irish speaker, probably from Tyrone where the majority were native speakers around the year 1805 when he was born. The McGillys moved backwards and forwards from Ireland to Scotland, which makes the research somewhat difficult.

The Grandmother Annie McGilley and her husband James Blaney have their names on this stone in the Dougher graveyard.
